Apparently the cryptic way of getting to the DS1 DLC area was too easy to find for them. Go find 3 keys in very specific areas (some which need multiple steps to get to before) and then remember to go back to these 3 obelisks to explore 3 different areas. What is Era's feelings with Scholar of the First Sin and its changes? I especially disliked how cryptic the directions are just to access the DLC. I've even been told that DS2 first timers should play the vanilla version first, SotFS second. Apparently this is the Super Mario Bros 2 (JP) The Lost Levels of the Souls games and the remix of enemy placement is meant to be considerably harder and I've felt it. It wasnt until much later I realized I was sort of right: I'm on PS4 so the only version of DS2 I have access to is the Scholar of the First Sin edition which I thought it was just a fancy name for a remastered edition with better framerate and the DLC included but nope.

Like intnetionally mean and borderline unfair. I think DS2 is superior to DS1 in many ways (level design, you heard me, is better because not being interconnected like DS1 works in its favor, for one) but one thing kept nagging at me: the difficulty felt trollish sometimes. Level 160, got to the final boss but bailed to go do the DLC areas first.

I’m that guy that a few weeks ago did this thread about almost abandoning Dark Souls Remastered due to obtuse design and lack of direction coupled with an interconnected world thats easy to go down towards a path that you shouldn't (only to much later find orange fog in a gate because I didn't know I should've gone back up after killing the Spider Lady instead of doing the obvious and continue forward towards the Demon Ruins!).Īnyway thanks to Era I got unstuck, prevailed, ended up loving the game warts and all, and now I'm neck deep into Dark Souls 2.
